| Summary Description |
The Handbook is the first publication of its kind to focus exclusively on securities statistics. It should assist in the compilation of relevant and internationally comparable data on securities; useful for monetary policy formulation and financial stability analysis. |
| Detailed Description |
The Handbook provides a conceptual framework for the compilation and presentation of statistics on different types of debt securities, including those derived from the securitisation of assets, and is consistent with the recently reviewed international statistical standards. It goes beyond these standards by elaborating on additional issues specific to securities.
Part 1 of the Handbook covers debt securities issues, while Part 2 provides a conceptual framework for the position and flow statistics on debt securities holdings. Both Parts are complemented with presentation tables showing data at aggregated and detailed levels. Part 3 of the Handbook, dealing with equity securities, is close to be finalized. Additionally, more specific compilation guidelines may also be developed, including with respect to the establishment of national and international security-by-security databases.
